Getaway | A journey into relationship grief by WeTransfer
https://ift.tt/4t35Owb
Aaron KilercioÄŸlu's short film “Getaway” explores relationship grief, masculine erotic insecurity and the contradictions of Gen Z sexuality.
Protagonist Daniel, in the midst of heartbreak, accidentally finds himself on a swingers’ campsite retreat. Already feeling vulnerable, he finds himself surrounded by polyamorous couples—one of which is played here by Blane Muise (Shygirl) in her acting debut, and her IRL boyfriend George Smale. We watch as Daniel, played by Michael Workéyè, drowns in an increasing feeling of unease as his desire and shame collide.
The filmmaker tells us how, despite greater sexual awareness and acceptance than ever, the idea of exploring our own sexuality still seems to go hand in hand with a sense of shame, and that “Getaway” shows how we might free ourselves from it.
