The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack

American animated television program The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack was developed by Thurop Van Orman for Cartoon Network. June 5, 2008, was the start date of the show, and it ran till August 30, 2010.

[1] Starring as Flapjack, a young and impressionable man reared by a whale named Bubbie and guided by an elderly pirate named Captain K'nuckles, is Van Orman. The majority of the program is set in Stormalong Harbor, where the three of them spend their days together. While looking for the illusive Candied Island, they encounter many disasters.

[2] Van Orman brought his own childhood fantasies of aquatic exploration—which he had while growing up in Florida—into the series when he first proposed the concept to Cartoon Network in 2001. Flapjack was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards, two Annie Awards, and one Golden Reel Award throughout its existence.
